On June 14th, the first ever Collaboration between the Leaders of Millions of Colleges and Universities in China and U.S. in 2024 as well as China-U.S. TVET Leaders Dialogue, hosted by the China Education Association for International Exchange(CEAIE) and organized by Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology, was successfully held in Los Angeles, USA. An Yan, Deputy Secretary General of CEAIE, Yang Shubing, Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Education Department, Chen Yifang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the California Education Department, and Jay Brewster, President and Chief Academic Officer of Pepperdine University, attended the event. Pan Guoqiang, Vice President of ZJIC was invited to the meeting online and made a speech for communication.
Pan Guoqiang delivered a speech titled “College Industry Collaboration in CTE - Why and How”. Starting from the characteristics of vocational education types and combined with the work practice in ZJIC, he introduced and shared the necessity of promoting the integration of industry and education in vocational education, as well as the measures and achievements of ZJIC, mainly focusing on “why” and “how to do it”.
It is reported that this event will be held both online and offline, with over 100 Chinese and American experts and scholars participating in the dialogue activity online. Nearly 20 presidents of vocational colleges in China and the United States conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as the effectiveness of vocational education transformation, the roles of government universities and various sectors of society, school enterprise cooperation, enhancing students' global competitiveness, vocational education curriculum design, teacher selection and training, and innovative teaching models.
