Founded in 1958, Zhejiang Institute of Communications is known as the “cradle of transportation talents in Zhejiang” and was approved by the Ministry of Education as one of the first vocational colleges in Zhejiang Province in 1999, aiming to cultivate high-quality technical and skilled talents needed by the transportation industry and society.
The institute currently has two campuses, Hangzhou and Changxing. The Hangzhou campus covers an area of 403400 m² with a total construction area of 322700 m². The Changxing campus located in Huzhou, Zhejiang Province, currently covers an area of 228300 m², with a construction area of 105900 m².
There are over 700 faculty members and more than 12000 full-time students in ZJIC. The institute offers 34 majors currently, including road and bridge engineering technology, automotive inspection and maintenance technology, navigation technology, aircraft mechanical and electrical equipment maintenance, urban rail transit operation management, etc.
ZJIC has led the establishment of the “China ASEAN Transportation Vocational Education Alliance”, exporting 18 international teaching professional standards, vocational standards, international competition standards, etc., and has built 4 overseas Luban Schools and 2 Silk Road Transportation Colleges, conducting training for more than 4000 overseas employees. The Kyrgyzstan Luban Workshop under construction has been selected as a national first-class project. Up to now, ZJIC has also established cooperative relationships with 32 overseas universities or institutions and launched 2 Chinese-Foreign cooperative education projects.
